Fondue Date Night

Hubby and I stayed in last night with homemade broccoli cheese fondue and a great movie by the fire. I can't remember the last time we had such a relaxing night in. Lily is finally starting to display less and less constant puppiness, requiring less and less non-stop supervision. And thus, husband and I can enjoy more and more cuddle (and meal) time. Ahhhhhhhh :)

Broccoli Cheese Fondue with carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and bread to dip

Today has been an ACTIVE day, to say the least. I started my day with hockey game #1. Husband and I cleaned ALL afternoon, and then it was off to hockey game #2 for the day (scored a goal, woot!). I'ddddd say it's about time for a shower, wouldn't you? Eeeewww.

How cute is this...
My hubby's family enjoys reading my blog and his aunt even reads it to his grandma. Grandma says that my husband is "spoiled" with my "gourmet" cooking. While flattering, Grandma H, I think any cooking going down in this kitchen is a long shot from gourmet. Palatable and balanced is probably more like it!

I have received LOTS of delicious-looking recipes to my inbox since yesterday. I am so excited about the "Prevention Cookbook" and I'm so happy to hear that you are, too! Don't forget to submit your recipe(s) by January 1, 2010! Mrs.RD44@gmail.com

The more the merrier for us all...and then you get a copy, too!

Question: What are you asking for from Santa for Christmas?

Here's to a relaxing evening and some Elf viewing. Best. Movie. Everrrr. Ciao!

  3. Yum, fondue!! Yeah, your hubby IS spoiled :) If I made Nick fondue he would flip. Maybe one day when we have a bigger kitchen and we have room for cool gadgets like that.
Glad you got some quality snuggle time with the hubby, and I'm super jealous of the fireplace! That's on our wish list for our next home, for sure.

I'm asking Santa for money, clothes, and jewelry! He better not let me down....haha

  4. That looks so good and indulgent! I've only had fondue a few times. It was great each time but I just feel like it's too heavy for me. Maybe I should rethink that though and try it again sometime!

I'm asking Santa (hubby) for a jump rope for Christmas so I can try a different, great workout. We already ordered a couch, so we're focusing on small gifts this year! Oh, I'm also asking Santa for a safe trip to Minneapolis to see my family for Christmas! No blizzards please!! :)

  7. That is funny she things your hubby is spoiled. He probably is! We haven't used our fondue set yet, but maybe we will soon. As for gifts to ask for, I am already 3 nights down for Hanukah and I will say my fab hubby got me an awesome camera with a setting for food pics. He gave me some pajamas and a bread machine cookbook already, and I still have 5 nights to go. Yeah, he admitted last night he went over the limit, so I confessed to that I went over also. Hey, it's our first holiday season as husband and wife (well there's always an excuse for gift giving!). I hope you get what you ask for (and didn't you get a treadmill already?!?!)

  10. I heart fondue! but I am not too fond of fondue restaurants because you come out smelling soooooo bad! I had to wash my hair 4 times in a row to get the smell of oil and grease out of my hair lol...but I do have fondue pots at home for chocolate =)

ohhh I need to send you my recipe soon

  11. What a great idea for an at home fondue! I love broccoli and cheese--best combo ever. My mom used to let me dip broc in nacho cheese because I would shovel the whole plate in my belly!

  14. That fondue looks amazing!!! I WANT SOME...NOW! :)
I asked Santa for a new garage door- I think I am getting it from mom and dad Santa.
And husband and I bought window treatments for our house. Seriously, those are the things I wanted. Being a grown up house owner really changes my xmas list! :)
